One of the most popular Xinjiang restuarants on Dianping.com, this jumping joint does not disappoint. From the massive plate of da ban ji to the absolutely incredible home-made yogurt to the Xinjiang-brewed black beer, you will find all your favorites done to Shanghai standards for freshness and taste. If that's not enough, gorge on Yershari's tender and succulent yangrou chuan'r.
Second Bite | Don't Mess With Mutton
This Xinjiang restaurant is always packed and for good reason: it offers great food (plus entertainment) in Xujiahui. It’s a mecca for lamb-lovers after something other than hot pot. Yeshari’s signature mutton shashiks (¥10 each) are grilled on sharpened red willow branches. They’re hot and juicy, strung with crisp chunks of fat and then covered in a spicy, cumin based rub.
Wash down the musky meat kebabs with mild and creamy Xinjiang milk tea (available in sweet or salty, ¥28 a pot). It’s always a test of wills to tear ourselves away from these grilled wonders, but the menu is full of well-executed Xinjiang dishes. To cool our mouths, we always get the mixed onion, pepper and tomato salad (¥12). It’s a cheaper and tangier version of Greek salad. Also not to be missed is the homemade yogurt with raisins and pumpkin (¥26). The light yogurt balances perfectly with a sliced chunk of the nutty squash. End with the caramel covered fried banana fritters and a little belly dancing.
