Practically teleported from the streets of NYC, satisfy your craving for cheese and carbs by indulging in a greasy slice that’s light on the wallet but heavy on the satisfaction. Entertaining a crowd? Whole pizzas can be made and delivered if you're in the area. On the go? You can also grab pizza by the slice.

By the Slice

A recent stroll down Taikang Lu revealed a happy surprise--NYSP is now open (or had been for four days when we visited). Happily situated kitty corner from Ginger Indochine, the raised seating area provided a happy view from which to enjoy our artichoke pizza. Meat lovers can dig into a slice of the Porko or maybe a classic Pepperoni pizza, but the real selling points are the following: No. 1, set prices for 16" (YY103) and 18" (YY118) pizzas means you get to choose as many toppings as you like and No. 2, pizza by the slice for YY15. Need we say more? They'll even make up a fresh pizza on the spot just so you can have a slice. --Trista Baldwin

NY pizza is our hangover staple. so far we've never been disappointed with the quality of the food. The service however, leaves much to be desired. We ordered a half and half (four cheese and hawaiian) last time we were there, I explicitly mentioned "HAWAIIAN" twice. The waitress took the wrong order and came out with a half four cheese and half tomato basil. When we asked for half of the pizza to be replaced with what we ordered, she shot us a look and said that it was my mistake and that i pointed to tomato basil when ordering (come on, my finger is not that fat). My boyfriend got pissed off and told her off. We finally got what we ordered bt were really annoyed.

Will probably come back again, but they should do something abt their waiters' attitudes. If not, there's an Italian joint that just opened up next door with impeccable service, albeit a little tougher on the wallet.

I was just happy to find Pizza by the Slice and it just happens to be in one of my fav neighbourhoods in Shanghai.

Focus on what this place does well -- Pizza and grab a bottle of beer and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather.

I would say that have slices for everyone but then again you can always go for the pizza list on the menu.

I'm from New York, so I can safely say that this pizza, while not quite entirely NY-style, would not disappoint me if I were to have it i the States. In fact, me and my band of Yanks devoured our pie with gusto along with bottles of Tiger, marveling that there was decent pizza at decent prices in Shanghai. One caveat - the mozz sticks aren't worth having, but who cares when the main event is so cheesy and delicious?

If you're looking for a cold one on a hot afternoon, this branch stocks American Craft beer and is working with some microbreweries as well to give you some great on tap options as well.
