Though I'm not a fan of Shanghai-style cooking, everything we ate on our only visit to this monumental restaurant (Nandan Lu) was flavorful, diverse and served promptly: tender pigeon in sweet brown sauce, clay pot of beans with shrimp sauce fresh from the oven and hair-thin tofu with crab powder; even basic stir-fried noodle was quite satisfying.
