The chefs here are known for integrating local food with western dishes, for example the mandarin fish noodles with cheese and spare-ribs with pine nuts. The furnishing are traditional and set in splendid greens, golds, and reds. Perfect for greeting the aunties, too.

Interesting Shanghai/Canton/Western Cuisine. located at the basement of the Bund Centre, the ceiling is lofty (I guess that it's converted from the basement carpark?). Deco is grandiose with chandeliers hanging from the lofty ceiling. Recommended dishes: Roast Pork Flambe, Diced Beef with Garlic Slices.

Enjoy very good fusion Chinese (eg. excellent smoked pomfret (鲳鱼) with cream sauce) in a huge basement cavern deocrated in bright red and gold with very comfortable chairs (private rooms also available but the main dining area is more interesting, though be aware they often have noisy Chinese wedding parties on auspicious days). The black-uniformed young staff are deft and used to dealing with foreigners. The nice thing about this place is it is a fancy restaurant where you can celebrate an occasion whille still being casual. Expect a bill around 500 RMB for 2 with drinks. I have visited many times and never been disappointed.
