Shanghai's ever popular street vendor has practically become an institution, serving fried pork and sage filled shengjian (fried soup dumplings) to eager patrons who queue up round the block for these treats. Though a bit tricky, your best bet is to puncture a sizable hole in the firm dough, suck up the delicious soup, dip it in sweet vinegar and devour the rest.

This is the best street-food in Shanghai! Go line up patiently for the dumplings and douse them with the vinegar in the teapot + the chilli from the pot. After you finish it, go line up at the same store 5 meters away....

It is truly amzing dumplings! I called it the 'squirting' dumplings coz it squirts out deliciously yummy broth with each bite...it's the cousin of the xiaolongbao..bigger in size, twice the amount of filling & a thicker dumpling skin that is both chewy & crispy!
Have been told that the 'old' Wujiang Street would be closed down a few months ago for future development but it's still there and business is good!
They have also opened a shop just above Costa Coffee on the Wujiang Leisure Street. So check it out too when that craving pops up again!

Beyond amazing. It actually has a generous amount of hot delicious soup inside (can't stand it when dumplings only have a pathetic little amount). The meat is tasty and soft, and the 'bao' itself is finely textured and absolutely divine!
And at only RMB4.5 for 4 big dumplings, it was a bargain.
I'll be back.
