The menu may not provide any English for those whose putonghua is somewhat deficient, but the myriad of pictures speak for themselves in bright red hues that denote the spiciness to come. Dishes overflow with bright red peppers and delightful bursts of Sichuan peppercorns make everything from mapo tofu to delicious spicy niurou noodles an adventure.


It might seem this restaurant has a standard range of Sichuan cuisine. But its secret charm is in those several exceptional dishes that keep us coming back whenever it's time for a hearty, meaty and hot dinner. Weighty roasted lamb chops (孜然羊排) come under a thick layer of spicy paste; they taste like nothing else in town. Soy noodle with ground beef sauce 蚂蚁上树 is rich and delicious. Portioned noodles dan dan mian (担担面) and ran mian (燃面) are both piquant. And spicy chicken with chilies (辣子鸡) is interspersed with lots of fragrant juniper and garlic. Local mapo tofu, spicy shrimp, sour beans and cured beef never let us down.
