Nondescript in atmosphere and decor, this restaurant is modeled after Chongqing's spicy kaoyu (fried fish) restaurants. The menu includes four kinds of fish and five sauces, ranked by hotness. Although ambiance is fairly nonexistent, 131 is a good choice for a budget local meal with a casual Chinese clientele. Perfect for a quick a quick protein pick-me-up.

I'm only glad if this unfavorable blurb is what keeps other foreigners away from the little Xingfu 131. It's a wonderful restaurant that's lucky enough to provide consistent and bold Sichuan cooking. Their baked fish is almost better than in Zhu Ge Kao Yu; fried shrimp with bread twists served in an oil cauldron is stellar. Fried kidneys and fresh salad with chilies are almost too kinky.

Have to agree with invidia, this place is kick-ass, bbq fish, potato and pork ribs, frog, all top-notch. nice lively atomsphere as well. good for groups but get there early - it gets crowded.
