Sample dishes made like your mother would make them--if she were Sichuan, that is. Try koushui chicken, hot fish and a bit of chanzui frog and then wash down that delicious bite of spiciness with some cold beer. Make a reservation in advance to avoid the inevitable line-up.

It's true about the tepid juice but just ask for ice ;). Otherwise Invidia is spot on, lip tingling mapo dofu and dan dan mian, delicious roasted pigeon and camphor smoked duck. Make sure to get the cold appetizer of lettuce with sesame sauce, winner, as is the cold rabbit.

We heard this was one of the best Sichuan restaurants in town so we had to check it out. It's a solid menu of Sichuan food that won't disappoint but the highlight is the eggplant claypot--it took all our willpower not to drop our face right into the bowl.

Yuxin is a long-time hardcore Sichuan paradise where your juniper tolerance gets pushed to the limit. It recently reopened in all of its red hot glory, complete with an illustrated English menu. Watching even more delectable things consumed at other people's tables makes me want to plan immediate follow-up dinners. The only thing to stay away from is tepid watermelon juice. (Webadmins, please make sure this place gets listed under the its real category, not Dim Sum!)
