We've heard that the name of this restaurant, "baked fish," is all you need to know to place the right order. The baked fish can be done to your liking--you choose your sauce--and comes garnished with sliced potato, peppers and cucumber. A selection of Chongqing cuisine rounds out the menu.

Description -
Do what others do: order the signature baked fish. Choose from half a dozen sauces of various hotness, from soy and pickled peppers to Sichuan and chili paste. Regardless of your choice, the fish will be delicious and tender inside, crusty and rich on the outside, garnished with sliced potato, bell pepper, cucumber and lots of other stuff. The heavenly sensation of eating this dish alone could keep patrons happy, but the high cooking standard spreads to the rest of the Sichuan dishes on the menu, from cold starters and spicy chicken to baked lamb rack and all kinds of vegetable combinations.

One good reason to visit this aptly named restaurant (Kao Yu translates as "Baked Fish") is to taste its signature baked fish (YY38-YY58). Choose from half a dozen savory or spicy sauces ranging from soy, hot chili, pickled peppers and curry to (our favorite) "special Sichuan." Whatever the marinade, the fish will be delicious and tender inside, rich and crusty on the outside, garnished with potatoes and cucumbers and sprinkled with sesame and cilantro. No wonder it's on every table. The heavenly sensation of eating this concoction alone keeps patrons happy, but the high standard of heartwarming Chongqing cuisine embellishes the rest of the menu as well. Inspiring cold starters, sizzling pots, and Sichuan classics are accompanied by Shanghai staples. With its sloped ceiling wrapped in canvas and chunky wooden furniture, Zhu Ge Kao Yu invites you to the long-gone tawdry era of Three Kingdoms and confidently delivers a glorious dinner. -Katya Knyazeva
