Hidden on the second floor of an apartment complex, this Thai eatery has come to be known as one of the most authentic in town. The decor and service aren't much to speak of but a delicious papaya salad and fragrant curries for great prices will quickly win your allegiance.

The best thai restaurant in town...just feel like home. :)

Hard to find but worth the search. The curries are spot on, appetizers can be hit or miss. Overall much better food than that found at the other thai restaurants in town, and this combined with the unique/cozy atmosphere makes for a nice dining experience.

You must come here (at least once) if you claim to be a fan of real Thai food. The entrance is next to the Northern Chinese place. The people are very friendly and it is just like a home restaurant.
The starters are a bit oily and not great. The curries and the main courses are really good. These are the kind of food you get to get in Thailand! Though not very polished, it is very hearty and you can almost imagine you are in Thailand as you focus on enjoying the taste of the green curry and listening to the Thai music in the background...
The sticky rice with mango is good.....

i'm so sorry to be writing this, but my last visits were so desappointing that i really need to say it... i've been going to the wuding lu thai house all the time, my picture is there and i don't even need to show my vip card to have the 10% discount...it's close to my place and i used to go there, cause it USED to be the best and cheapest thai cuisine in town, with thai staff and everything, but now it's not cheaper nor more authentic than any other thai eatery. food is full of MSG, sauces are cut with water and service... just useless and totally lost. so now i'll just go somewhere else.

Hidden Thai Treasure
Since Thai House has now opened a second location, we thought we'd revisit the original to see if it's maintained its reputation for tasty authentic Thai food at reasonable prices. Tucked away down an alleyway on the second floor of an apartment complex, we found the place jammed packed with eager diners savoring the multitude of traditional Thai choices. Pad Thai (YY38), a popular selection, is one of the best we've had in Shanghai with noodles cooked to perfection accompanied by all the usual condiments, both light and satisfying. Another favorite, the Green Curry (YY42) with steamed rice (YY8), was spicy hot, providing the zingy aftertaste of a true Thai curry. Conclusion: No frills Thai House still serves up some of the best Thai food in town. Stuffed and satisfied, we left knowing we'd return. -Peggy Rosen
