Simple decor with original Turkish touches make snacking on high-quality doner kebabs and Turkish pizzas a pleasure. Its location, just a hop away from a busy entertainment area, ensures that no late-night partiers go home with an empty stomach. Don't forget to give their unique Turkish desserts a try as well.

I ate here last week and the kebabs were good, prices cheap, staff OK. I would catergorise this restaraunt as a good midweek venue for a cheap and tasty meal. For the weekend I would just choose somewhere else with a bit more quality.

Been there few days ago. The service at this place is really bad (especially looking at their prices on the menu!!) The waitress throw the tissues on the table. The decor is also nothing to talk about.
The food is ok, like a proper kebab. There is a bad smell inside and the tables are not very clean. But it is open late so who cares about that if you are drunk at 2am and looking for a proper kebab.

Didn't think this place was anything special. I guess being one of the only Turkish places in Shanghai, it would be ok.
but honestly, I thought the food was overpriced and quality wasn't anything to write about.

The opening hours are the main reason why me and my mates keep going there. Not their kebabs or humus. After a few disappointments, I stick to pides (Turkish pizzas) and oh-so-yummy carrot with yoghurt and pita bread. It's a good change from skewers on the sidewalk.

Anadolu is a regular visit when I am self-medicating at my favorite dive, Hello Bar. I stick to the doner pitas (no yogurt sauce please) which are fairly reliable. Sometimes the meat is plentiful and other times not, depending on who has the knife. However for RMB 25 or so per shot, I won't really complain.

Where You Drink, Ryan Hemmert; Issue 18
"For cheap draft Carlsberg, yummy Turkish pizza and hookah I go to Anadolu (Turkish). It's a great jumping off point for a night out, plus they have outdoor seating which is great in the fall. I only know of a handful of places to smoke a hookah in Shanghai, and my Pakistani girlfriend swears this place is tops."

I liked my doner, a bit on the salty side, but very tasty. the feta cheese salad was also good.

That's weird, I've never had a bad experience there - it's always been consistently good. Oh, and I'm not on their payroll

The doners are definitely unmissable, as are the Turkish pizzas, and the meat platters, and the... ah, it's all unmissable. Not all of it is cheap but the food here is consistently excellent, i don't agree that it's bland at all. I've been with a couple of Turkish friends before who have both (independently) said that it is very authentic Turkish cuisine. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Shanghai and, as fatcow says, they're open pretty late which is always a bonus

Half-hearted Dishes are large and cheap, but the flavors are bland.

doner is a can't miss the doner at anadolu are excellent, cheap (starting at 25 RMB), and available till very late. definitely worth a try if you are on hengshan lu. also try the turkish pizza-very tasty. wash it down with a shot of lion's milk and you have one hell of a nightcap.

Great restaurant: Their Lahmacun (turkish pizza) is wonderful - just the right amount of flavour and spice. Get the large version with a green salad if you want some fresh tanginess added. Their iskender kebab (doner with yoghurt) is pricy but amazing on most nights. Occasionally the meat has been a little fatty, the reviewer who suggested to watch who had the knife was right on this point. Great cacik (yoghurt with cucumbers and garlic), and excellent pide as well. Turkish kebabs are not Uighur kebabs, so don't go expecting lamb shashlik with red pepper and cumin. They do nice pilav / rice, though, and the kofte (rolled lamb) is nicely flavoured.
