Don't ever go to this place. Tell your friends and family. Down with dishonest and deceptive practices.
There are plenty of salons and hairdressers in Shanghai who don't need to stoop to these pathetic and downright lazy practices.
Do yourself a favor. Take your business elsewhere.

I have been to a few of the salons in Shanghai, but by now Benson is the best. the staff members are very professional and they work to do the right cut for my hair.And the price is the best . Have a good time there.

maybe they spam i really don't know any more but i do know that from my real experience there i was offered food and drinks and came away very happy with what the hairdresser had done the three times that i have been there so far. I understand you are looking out for people because yes i agree there are some people that write fake comments but i m for real about what i say.

Take a look at the profile of user "Emilyou". Four reviews- all for Benson's, all saying what a wonderful experience she had there.
One listing posted for....Bensons.
One comment for? Oh snap- you got it, Benson's.
And yet one of her comments is

They do this on every expat site they can find. I don't think it's cool.

Marc (mark, sorry not sure which way it is spelt) also did my hair and i totally agree with giantglobals comments he is a very good colourist along with Jean who has now moved to the Pudong salon. I cannot comment on any other stylist as those are the only two that have done my hair but from looking around the salon all their customers looked very happy with what they were having done. Thank you Bensons :0)

Benson's guys are great, and whoever posting bad reviews on them, is just a jelous pal. I go to Benson's every other month for my highlights. The color is really good, prices are fair, and I truly prefer their job to the one my Parisian color stylist did back to France. I would like to particularly thank Mark, my color stylist at Benson's, thank you Mark, you rock! Julia.

I haven't been there, I'm bald so I get my remaining hair cut for 10RMB by the guy at the end of my street.
Alls I'm saying is, good salon or not, they are dishonest.

ispyshanghai... i understand that you are trying to help people avoid bad salons but in this case you really could put people of a salon that is good. It is my third time there and each time i got highlights and a cut. I cant complain about anything at all. Marc who did my hair is very friendly. Yes there may be fake comments..but this is a genuine one and i cant stress enough how happy i have been going there. i cannot comment on the other 2 salons i have only been to Jianing Lu branch but i imagine they are all just as good.
please do not listen to this guy talking bad about them i bet he has never even been to have his hair cut there!!!!!

A lot of back and forth with all this 'fake' or 'not fake' review thing so here's mine.
Went there to straighten my hair as it was destroyed by a Chinese Salon a few months back. The price wasn't bad at all, and they were really attentive as soon as I arrived. They offered us drinks (even beer) the whole time which I thought was different and cool.
Result: Hair straightened, satisfied. Hair cut was really well done as well. The only thing would be the way they cut my hair was very Chinese (as in chopping upwards randomly), but it still looked good in the end. They had a policy that if I wasn't satisfied I could go back in 7 days and do it for free..I didn't have to.
Keep up the good work Benson!

She also loves Benson's so much that she reviewed both the Hongfeng Lu and Jianing Lu branches.

Coming to China with blonde nodic hair can be a challenge when it comes to find a hairdresser! At Benson I felt completely calm since I got the best professional treatment. Highlights are even better made here than at home. I will highly recommend this salon to my friends. I will be back.

I'm going to ignore the question of validity for some of these reviews and instead just say that I had my hair chemically (Lisico) straightened at Benson's in April and had a wonderful experience. I paid 1/6 of what I would have paid in the States, and both Benson and his assistant were extremely thorough during the 4+ hours it took to turn my very curly hair into a stick-straight, shiny mane. When one piece still had a slight wave to it, Benson fixed it free of cost a few days later. My hair has stayed extremely straight since having it done. Although I can't speak for their haircuts or coloring processes, I highly recommend this salon for Japanese hair straightening.

I arrived in Shanghai 3 weeks ago and went straight to Bensons Salon due to the mess that a salon had made in Vietnam ( not used to western hair, ended up with grey/green hair). All i can say is i was treated like a princess from the moment i arrived till when i left. I had colour and cut, and some food whilst i waited. The staff there are all very friendly and speak english. I left feeling very happy and will def be going back. Any one looking for a hair salon, go there. I recommend it :0)

Benson Salon in the Jin an district seems to be pretty good. I have introduced my friends go there and they are happy with them. The stylist (Mark)speaks good english and does good blond highlights.

I knew Benson from the article ,it's one of the top 5 hairsalons in Shanghai. I tried last week they did very good color and cutting. The price is also cheaper than others. I am so happy and lucky to find there.

Since moving to Shanghai 3 months ago. I have visited Benson and his team with my blonde highlights hair treatment, and cuts. They have always done a good job and would highly recommend to anyone in or moving to Shanghai. For full head of highlights is 730, half head is 580,very reasonable!

I am an expat who has been living in shanghai for eight weeks.Benson salon was recommended by one of my friend who is also an expant living in shanghai.I have extremely thick,curly and frizzy blonde hair.However,the Benson salon did an incredible job straightening my hair .The entire process was very smooth and enjoyable .Their kind english-speaking staff kept me informed through the entire process. They did not use smelly chemicals and the process was painless .I was very nervous about the treatment making my hair brittle-but my hair is silky ,smooth -and still very strong.I can highly recommend the Benson Salon for any expat's needs. they are excellent with foreign hair--my best friend got a cut,color while I got my hair straightened. Generally I don't make a habit of making comments, good or bad. But I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jean at Bensons along with the great staff there for resurrecting my hair. When I arrived in Shanghai two years ago I went to a so called reputable salon (that shall remain nameless) and received the worst color and cut. Having gone in to have my brown hair touched up and trimmed I left with pitch black hair and an Asian looking cut not suitable for my unruly curly Western hair. Thankfully I found Bensons! They worked tirelessly to re color and fix the damage. Since then I have never gone anywhere else. They do a great job and are professional and courteous. I have never been ripped off as some are stating (obviously from competitors seeking to disparage) if anything they offer value added service. Please note that I am not an employee of Bensons nor have they asked me to write this on their behalf..Just a very satisfied customer wanting to set the record straight. I recommend all my friends to Bensons and will continue to do so...If customers are in anyway disgruntled with Bensons you can go back and they'll even fix it FOC..Keep up the good work Bensons!
