Stunning views of the Bund from the Digital Garden patio have helped make this the city's most famous bar. Bartenders set the bar on fire–literally–every night, mixing up an assortment of high-end cocktails against a soundtrack of minimal techno and deep house. The tunes last until late and the crowd often parties until the sun comes up.

The opening of Bar Rouge in November 2004 atop Bund 18 announced a new era in Shanghai nightlife. It rapidly became the city's hottest spot for its combination of striking interiors, stunning Bund views, spacious & themed terrace, expert French bartenders, energetic DJs, and sexy crowd. Over the years, Bar Rouge has maintained that reputation by re-creating the terrace with a completely new theme and design every season, introducing bartending concepts that have been copied across China, and infusing everything with a fun attitude. Bar Rouge is, indisputably, an icon of Shanghai's glamorous nightlife.

A place where nobodies go to be somebody. The view is nice. Of Pudong that is, not of the crowd.

Beside the price like everybody is complaining about. I still think this is a very nice bar (again not all occasions applied). The place I like to bring my friends when they visit. However, management better do something about the hookers soon, else I won't be coming back again. It's getting more and more each time I visit... gosh...

i think it is certainly a place which has been overrated and over priced, the wine taste light and strenge even fake. People are strenge acting here, i had only stayed there for around half an hour.

Well, I don't really like Bar Rouge! it's totally different from the others, people there turn to be very arrogant! Good venue but low-quality!

Last night was great! Amazing views, lots of beautiful people. Yes very much on the posh side, but given the great music (!) and the friends I was with it was terrific. Not a place I would go to on my own though. Too high wannabe content. Bring lots of cash indeed, tis expensive

Bar Rouge was mentioned in CW's Drinking Al Fresco story. Read up about this venue and more to make the most out of your summer.

hmm... that comment above me was from a friend of mine who was too drunk and too happy after we got back from rouge. i have to say i second her.
rouge bar definitely a very cool place to hang out, dance, drink and check out the eye candies (that also includes the stunning view of the bund, of course).
we were in shanghai for 3 days for the long weekend and clubbing at rouge just topped my first time shanghai experience. we wish we have something like this in beijing.
rouge definitely will always be in my must-visit list whenever i go to shanghai again.

The bar manager and the servers do not even deal with sexual harassment from older European men after 3 times. That is really unacceptable. I've been to bars/clubs all over the world and never have I been treated this way. It was truly an awful experience in which I will never return.

Overpriced, pretentious, poor service and weak drinks, but go**amn are the ladies and views of Pudong gorgeous. Nice place for a drink after work during the week when it's not too busy or to bring someone you're trying to impress.

Editor's Pick Rarely does a bartender cite the kitchen as his inspiration, but Sebastien Bonnefoi from Bar Rouge has brought the best of both worlds together with his "Caviar Champagne" masterpiece. he can create this drink in almost any fruity variety you request with handmade, "bubbles," or "caviar" to match. These works of art float in your champagne and then burst in your mouth reminiscent of the "bubbles" in milk tea -- but a slightly fruity, definitely alcoholic and much classier version. We'd expect nothing else from Sebastien and Bar Rouge.
