A collaboration between Gary Heyne (former brew master of Henry’s) and Kelley Lee (from iiiit!), Boxing Cat Brewery is a welcoming pub/restaurant that keeps people coming back for more--either for the four brews on tap or the well-portioned and delicious bar food.

We had to take the metro to the end of the line, then pay a gypsy cab 30rmb to take us the rest of the way. If you miss American food as much as I do (or you live in Hongqiao), it's definitely worth the trip. The brews were decent, but the food was fantastic. I highly recommend the chorizo cheese dip. Amazing. Plus, very friendly owners and laid back crowd.

This establishment is simply sensational! You must go and try their beer and sensational meals. The management team at this brewery REALLY do an outstanding job. They will give you complimentary hand cut crisps; beautiful fresh beer bread with a herb butter; the kids are well catered for (I always eat my daughter's mac and cheese! It's good enough to satisfy me and I am very fussy!); and the music playing in the background is very cool indeed. These guys just haven't put a foot wrong. Mia, the manager, is sensational and the 'bigger than Texas' owner is a charismatic and friendly guy who always comes to check that his clients are happy. Try the pulled pork; ribs; artichoke, lentil and pancetta salad or the gumbo. I have had all of these dishes and they are wonderful. I plan to work my way through the entire menu!
