Emancipate your soul for less Free Soul has moved to where Means used to be. The main difference from the old location is size and food. Decoration-wise, it retains the same red walls but in smaller premises, which are so much cosier. Food sees a big expansion with the bar trying to establish itself as a lunch venue with sets of both Western and Asian food (¥18- 38, available up to 5pm). Having Tiger and San Miguel on tap ¥30 (large,) bottles ranging from ¥20-40, and spirits in the vicinity of ¥40, this new location certainly offers a good value. The glass-heavy bathroom, however, doesn't really fit in–and there's a working shower(?). With a happy hour from 5-8pm and a ¥100 all you can drink deal on Tu e s d a y s , t h i s friendly local bar is already getting the punters in. -Mark Andrews

guys, don't bully sky. c is such a nice lady. u'll find the the bar very comfortable if you visit there and have a 5 min chat with her ;)

@Free Soul, If your only excuse for asking 30 rmb for a can of soda(....) and 60 kuai for a botlle of Chimay is 'it is the usual price for bars and i don't think you can get those beer with 20--40 kuai at any bars', then you seem not to understand that drink prices should be worth the venue you visit. With all respect, asking these prices in the Free Soul setting, has nothing to do with prices more upscale venues or compare yourself to lousy bar owners that have the same habbits....

A can of soda costs 30kuai is bit expensive but it's also the usual price for bars. sorry for that. And "the bottles of beer are more like 60kuai" which you mentioned...i believe you are talking about the beer like "Boddington", "Chimay", "duvel" etc. honestly i don't think you can get those beer with 20--40 kuai at any bars. oh, you must forget to taste our local beer Tsingtao, it's very nice and it costs only 25kuai. and the tiger draft beer also pretty fresh, it's only 30kuai. plus there's HAPPY HOUR for it. Obviously you are not satisfied with this bar, and i'm really sorry that this bar dind't bring happiness to you as it actually did to other people. but please do not spread lies. First, we do not sell fake liquor. Second, that would be definitely stupid if we do sell the fake liquor which "taste was definitely fake". and here comes the last which is important, you don't really taste the fake liquor, you feel it...and normally it'll happen to you the next morning. for saying this, there is no complaint come from all my other customers yet and this bar has been opening for more than 4 years already.

First of all, the bartender here is not a jerk at all instead he is a very nice and friendly boy who might be not perfectly skilled but he is trained.

Bartender here on a recent Saturday night was either a jerk or simply untrained. Much is made about the affordability of this bar but a can of soda water is ¥30, bottles of beer are more like ¥60 (not ¥20-40 as mentioned above), and even with the happy hour and buy-one-get-one deals, the liquor we tasted was definitely fake! Hardly value for what you get!

At least the pool table is free.
