This sophisticated and intimate lounge in Hyatt on the Bund has amazing views of both the Bund and Pudong. In the winter, admire the view from inside, but when summer rolls around bring your bikini and take advantage of the Jacuzzi and day beds. Come enjoy quality cocktails, but beware–they're served at the standard Bund prices.

Description -
This two-floor bar at Hyatt on the Bund features stunning views of the city. Bucking the still hotel bar stereotype, this venue lets you kick back in day beds or comfortable and intimate seating arrangements. Definitely grab a seat near the jacuzzi on the terrace, so you have a front row view of the action that's sure to come.

great view. its out of the way though. they do have drink specials to make up for that. if you need a place to take someone to get a great view of both sides of the river this is the place. or if you are a baller and want to throw a jaccuzzi party...let me know when you do please.

Great view - good music and good cocktails at this Bundside venue. go mid week with guests from outside Shanghai - or dress up and get glamourous for a Saturday night... either way u will have a great time. If you need dinner options - go downstairs to XINDALU for divine Beijing duck and chinese food... hits the spot before getting in that glass lift and shooting for the 32nd floor... to Vue

What happened?!
Since I reviewed Vue Bar more than 3 weeks ago, I always rave about its stunning view accompanied by great drinks, and have gone back twice with groups of friends and visitors. But just like this volatile city, nothing remains constant. Not that the beautiful view has disappeared or changed, but the standard of the drinks have slipped!
On my second visit, I faithfully ordered what came highly recommended on my list - the rum and kiwi caipirinha. Most disappointedly, the drink tasted nothing like what I had the very first time; it was simply bland. I mentioned this to the waitress as I placed my second order and, lo and behold, the caipirinha she served was alcoholic! As far as I know, everyone else's drinks also became very strong for the rest of the night. However, a good cocktail is all about the right ratio and not the amount of alcohol in it.
Believing it was just a bad day at Vue Bar, I went back again with some friends last night. The waitress at the bar seemed to have no clue what she was doing, because I had to repeat my order three times even though I actually pointed it out on the menu for her. After waiting by the bar for about 10 minute, the bartender has simply disappeared and the very waitress was totally oblivious of my presence. When eventually I got my drink, it was decent.
Soon I moved on to my second drink, and that was when things started to go wrong, again. The caipirinha tasted of lime and soda water only, and when I went back to the bar with it the waiter simply poured more alcohol in it. It tasted awful and insipid nevertheless. Like I said, it is all about the ratio.
So what has happened since my initial visit? To quote a friend of mine: “The place has gone mainstream.” The number of customers has picked up rapidly over the past few weeks during the Tuesday Happy Hour, and the standard of the drinks has sadly taken a nosedive.

This bar never disappoints. Last night had probably the beat view in all of Shanghai with my girlfriend at the Pommery party. The waitstaff is attentive and unobtrusive, kept my glass full all night. The music was sexy and upbeat without being cheesy or painfully hip. The place was crowded enough to feel happening, but not so crowded to be loud or annoying. Just a perfect place for a perfect evening

Good venue, but HORRIBLE service. Messed up our reservation and didn't have enough alternative seating for 18 ppl. Ridiculously hot but we were told it was at its lowest temperature. We had to ask for buckets of ice and mixers multiple times although it is supposedly included in our purchase of several bottles of vodka and champagne.
We lost an iPhone there, and management's response was so slow. Although we spoke plain and simple Chinese, she couldn't seem to understand the situation. She didn't seem upset or concerned that there was thieft in her bar.

Having always heard about the great view of the Bund from Vue Bar, a friend and I decided to check it out one evening.
It was a Tuesday, so special fruity caipirinhas were on the menu for a mere 40RMB! We tried the rum and kiwi as well as vodka and mango combinations and decided we love the former the best as it's not too sweet and the kiwi complements the drink well.
The staff were friendly and polite, and the venue has a very chilled out atmosphere. The music was just loud enough to be heard in the background, thus making it perfect for conversations.
Perhaps the only thing I've something to say about was the fact that it was rather difficult to navigate through the maze-like partitions to find the bathroom after having one too many delicious caipirinhas.

Well designed, great view but plagued with the shanghai bad service syndrome. We were a group of 10, reserved tables, purchased multiple bottles of vodka &champagne and the service crap. We had to walk up to the bar to purchase mixers, ask for more ice or clean glasses. We were told AC was on full but it was an uncomfortable30 degrees inside. Honestly, when will companies invest in decent managers and service training for their staff?

Where You Drink, Ryan Hemmert; Issue 18
"If I'm after glamor and sophistication then I head for Vue Bar atop Hyatt on the Bund. Sip an orange-flavored Mandarito and check out, hands down, the best view in the city of both sides of the Bund."

Excellent view of the Bund at night, feels more comfy than other Bund joints. Music volume is quiet enough to get conversation going without having to raise your voice.

Best view on the Bund! Brought some out of town guests and they were rightly impressed by our beautiful city. Drinks are worth the price unlike many other Bund bars.
