Located in the old mansion of the early 20th-century businessman and politician T.V. Soong, this establishment's inviting first floor bar is accented by warm red colors and tasteful wall decorations. The second floor houses a more elegant and formal dining area, while the outdoor seating is perfect for a summer night with friends.
Second Bite | Back in Action
With new management and a reopened second floor (where Prime used to be), Sasha's was just crying out for a second look. The new menu offers a revised selection of standard Western fare: think striploin steak and fish and chips. Or order Sasha’s thin-crust pizza in the smartly decorated upstairs dining room. Waited on by attentive staff, we started with a bowl of deep-fried calamari (¥45) which was filling, even for two, yet disappointingly bland. But the 280 gram hunk of melt-in-your-mouth beef tenderloin steak (¥165), served with creamy peppercorn sauce and a generous helping of sautéed potatoes, was cooked to perfection and went well with a glass of Merlot (¥50). Our old standby, the margherita pizza (¥70), lived up to its reputation as one of the best pizzas in town with a thin, crispy crust and a good heaping of cheese. To finish, we worked on a satisfyingly sweet Eton Mess (¥50), a dessert of strawberries, meringue and cream, before sinking into a contented food coma. Perfect for soaking up the candlelit atmosphere and beautiful Asia-inspired colonial surroundings.
