This two-story Mexican cantina has a well-earned reputation as a dance haven, and its Ladies' Nights have become legendary for bar-top dancing and drunk western girls. The icy fishbowl margarita makes a great summer refresher on the first floor patio or the second floor balcony.

"When we heard that Zapata's was bringing in Dean Callan, Winner of the 42 Below Ready Shake competition (2007) and Australian Bartender of the Year (2007) to man their well trodden bar, we decided to see what his hands could do to spice up Zapata's staple drink, the margarita.
Next time you shove your way up to the Zapata's bar, forgo the normal freebees and ask Callan for a Peach Margarita. Made with crème de pêche, grapefruit juice ('to match the tequila,' we're told), fresh lime juice, and, of course, tequila, this drink is a sweet but not too sweet twist on an old favorite. The grapefruit juice perfectly balances the tequila and the peach is an unusual twist. Although we thought the fresh lime would make it bitter, it blended perfectly on our tongue. We're not allowed to give you all the ingredients, but we can tell you that this combination made an alcohol we're not a huge fan of lip-smacking, second-and- third-round demanding delicious drink. This is worth the trip any night of the week, Ladies' Night or not." --Issue 2, Shaken and Stirred

Ho hum It is housed in a lovely old building. Lured here by an American expat I met at the fascinating and unique Mural Bar, this place demonstrated Frat Boys and Sorority Girls always find each other, no matter where they happen to hang their Abercrombie and Fitch hats. DJs were playing routine hits of American dance radio ("Love Shack" by the B52s? Ay yah). Obviously popular and packed with generics trying to score. The DJs should surf the web for college radio stations like KALX or WSOU and update their play list with something a bit more up-to-date.
