Contemporary Japanese design, a softly-lit interior and an older, well-dressed crowd characterizes the top floor of this music venue. In contrast, the downstairs space is open and often houses theater groups, live shows and parties frequented by young rock enthusiasts in search of the first floor's cheaper drinks.
Sometimes, you are in the mood for a relaxed drink in a softly-lit lounge and other times, for a face-melting guitar solo by one of China's up and coming rock bands. This bar hits the spot on both levels. The top area of the bar has a chilled out atmosphere with plush beige lounge chairs set against a subtle yellow backlighting with autumn leaf outlines. The bar's contemporary lighting fixtures and round mirror-topped tables are a creation of the establishment's Japanese designer. Downstairs, the suave, older patrons are replaced with a younger, grungier crowd. Sip ¥20 ice-cold beers as you listen to an eclectic mix of young rock bands every weekend night. Whether you want to put your feet up or move them in tandem with head-banging music, this spot has a place for you. –Ryan Fioresi
