Holding its hallmark all-you-can-drink parties, this club brings in hordes of young expats who get down to the frequent DJ guests and somewhat less frequent live shows. A solid sound system and stylish design make for a picture perfect setting for getting rowdy on the dance floor any night of the week.

Bonbon won Best Club - Readers Choice Award for That's Magazine AND Best DJ Shows for City Weekend and Editors Choice for Best Club.
Seems as there is some hating by sore losers above.
Its fine, there are loads of people having a great time.
Take a look at http://urbanon.com for photo galleries and see for yourself.

At the beginning we were a bit afraid because we read the negative comment above. But then we thought just go there and see by ourselfes. And it was actually quite good. we went there for the 2 years birthday bash. we ( female 19 and 24 years old) had a really good time. the music was good. although there are some negative points: - OKAY the dancingfloor isn't that big but if you get there and find a place you start feel comfortable - the boys (and girls!) really just do what they want. some of them are SO drunk (because of the all-you-can-drink) that they just grab your ass or whatever whenever they want to. So if you don¨t like that you have to be a bit attentive for that - There was puke in front of the bar and opposite the toilet.. must be because of the free drinks. Really not nice if you see a guy passing out and falling in puke.. brr.. - there sooo few toilets.. we had to wait at least 15min..
But because we had a really good time and i don't want to be that serious about everything I would give it 4.5 points. But since I can't do that it's 4. It was also a good mix between foreigners and chinese. Ah yeah lots of wannabe cool guys and wannabe sexy girls. but it's quite fun to watch them..so go there and get our own opinion..

Judging from the comments above, word of mouth, and my own experience, it seems Bon Bon is largely hit or miss. (I've heard plenty of good things before going myself).
I arrived to witness a hoard of 16 year olds running around like idiots and (literally) vomiting all over themselves. All of the floors in the entire club were sticking like fly paper. Good luck finding a dry surface of any sort. Lastly, as you would assume, ~150RMB for all you can drink means you're getting the worst liquor in East Asia. Don't waste your time here when Shanghai has so many other great venues to offer.

Bonbon should be closed down as they allow 14 year old kids to enter. 14 is not legal at all. i am not sure if china or bonbon have any rules and regulations about this matter but they definitely should not let minors in! many older men try to hit on these young girls not knowing their age etc. i know that the parents of these kids should be responsible for them as well but then sometimes these kids don't tell the truth as to where they are going. the club i believe should take responsibility and not allow minors in and drink till they drop. this club is endangering the lives of these kids who don't know better. Young teenagers get drunk, end up having sex for lack of better judgement. The authorities should take action against this club who permit this.

We went back (sorry...was drunk and in the neighborhood) and it was almost as bad as the first time when the guy got stabbed and all the bloody guys were fighting.
This time had no violence but there was a beautiful girl who had slipped in puke and was crying because her dress was covered in some persons barfed up dinner.
The music was the same. Poor quality. The dancing was the same, bouncing bouncing because it was so packed. I hate that place forever now and will never go back.
I love going to clubs and have been all over the world, including Ibiza, Barcelona, London, Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo, and LA. This spot in Shanghai is just lame. Beware. Blood, puke, and crying girls does not mean fun to me.
IF someone writes a good review, they work there. Beware of those ads. They are nothing more than propaganda. Go try to dance there and see for yourself. Beware.

Club Bonbon has hosted literally hundreds of the world's top DJs since opening in December 2005, making Club Bonbon the most consistent host of world class international DJs in Shanghai!
This is what has earned Bonbon top spot in both City Weekend and That's Shanghai Magazine Reader's Polls.
Electro House, Hip Hop, Drum n Bass, Minimal Techno, Trance, Rock, Mashup...
Almost 300 of the world's best DJs have played at Club Bonbon, Home of Godskitchen, China. That's an average of about 10 each month, showing more than a simple commitment, but a determination to building a healthy and vibrant dance music scene over a long term here in Shanghai.
As a matter of fact, Club Bonbon, at 2 and a half years old, is the most established venue nominated for Best Club of the Year in City Weekend's 2008 Reader's Poll.

Last Saturday, I went to Bonbon with my husband. And there I experienced the most horrible and humiliated moment ever in my whole life!
It’s started by some misunderstanding between me and a bar tender, we both got worked up, and he suddenly pushed me really hard on my chest across the bar. I was furious to be treated that way, so I fought back. And then, I got a heavy slap on my left face! I was furious and lost my mind! But I couldn’t do anything to him since I was a thin woman and he’s a man much taller than me!
Then we were taken to the security room on the second floor and we were asked to pay them 1,000 RMB! It seemed they bought the police and we were surrounded by 5-6 guards in that room. At last, we were forced to pay them 1,000 RMB otherwise we were not allowed to leave. I asked for official receipt but then I was threatened. They only gave us a handwritten receipt without company seal on it.
Now I still have bruise on my body and the hurt on my emotion. I know we can’t get help from the Chinese police, or the embassy, because I don’t have any solid proof of their crime. I strongly recommend everyone to think twice before you go to Bon Bon.

bon bon is a st club, it has way too many teenagers in and their alcohol is the mst dubious on the market plui can write all he wants about how many awards they have won or how many djs have shown up but the point of the matter is that he is paid to write his drivel. Club Bon bon is cp and full of regular violence Go at your own risk And no, the sound system is not bad, its just the crappy music thats illegally downloaded by the amatuer djs that play there

sorry to hear about the continued violence at bon bon. we saw enough of that while we were there. They really should close that place down. Next time I am in shanghai, I will go by and take pics that are not shot for PR purposes, to show the truth of the matter. People need to know how shit this club is.

if you have pics that show the truth about bon bon you should post them. the pr pics posted by the guy on bonbon payroll are not honest.

packed with drunk and high or both violent teenagers with attitudes and noob expats who think the sun sets and rises in bon bon

BonBon is the WORST club we have ever been to. EVER. We went after reading the drum and bass comment above and were sorely disappointed. The website review for this place is inaccurate to say the least.
and FINALLY, we decided to leave, only to find the absolute worst part of the experience...though the only exciting part.
We will never go back. We went out, dressed to the hilt, the ladies were in skirts, and tight tops...beautiful...and I was the only guy in our group. It was a total waste of our night.
Stay away at all costs.
