The concept of The Cut disco club started immediately with a gesture of breaking the rules. In fact the interior space of the site was fragmentated in an L shape, so my first idea was to unify the space creating a rebellion object that penetrate the windows to posses all the possible space inside and outside. This unfolded slab object immediately start to give strong identity to the space; like a big insolent cake of clay standing inbetween the interior and the exterior of the existing building. The second natural gesture was to start cutting this massive slab of abstract clay to create functional fractures spaces where to sit, drink and dance. Because contrast is beauty, this primitive heavy monolite needed immediately a caduceus and ephemeral background where to stay. So the choice was to surround the space with projections, interactive digital experiences and spatial abstract invisible games;the visitor will have a fancy digital bracelet so the system will know the flow and the position of his movements in the space. The hidden digital equipment will start a visual and sound interaction with the costumer and his mobile phone, following his movement and whispering personal words and sending personal messages or avatar images on the screens around the club. An example can be the projection of the club plan where to see like in a painting the flow of the man and girls position with two different color that describe the interaction of the two sex on the screen.
“The cut” will be a new type of interactive entertainment experiment for you.
