The Wall has creative cocktails as well as an extensive list of top-shelf liquors and entertaining flare bartenders. With a impressive guest DJs (Sasha did the soft opening) and a great house DJ, this is the perfect place head to go for a night of dancing or cruising--if you're willing to voyage across the river.

The Wall is a fairly interesting venue. Although in conversation during that night the question did come up as to why it was named the Wall... The best guess we had was because it was such a long club, and therefore perhaps reminiscent of the Great Wall... but that would be just kind of lame.

The drinks were surprisingly strong, the fact that the entire club is underground was a fun experience, and drinks that night were free until midnight!

The crowd was very mixed between foreign and local, which made for a pleasant balance and vibe for the whole night. And might I say, the ladies were lookin' fine.

What impressed me the most the night I went (opening party, invitation-only) was the music. It was retro-inspired contemporary house. Playful, intelligent, and mindful of its surroundings. I salute the DJ that night (one, the resident native Chinese house DJ and one, a UK special guest DJ for the night).

Thoroughly enjoyable evening. It's worth the trek out to Pudong to see what's going on!

Issue 21: Where You Drink, James Pechenham Since I’m looking for a job right now in Shanghai, I tend to be more budget oriented and very happy if a place is both fun and affordable. The Wall, a literally underground club in Pudong, is my choice for an evening out when I’m craving an all-you-can-drink deal. They have the longest bar in Asia and the DJs always play interesting music. Last time I was there they played some cool Arabic sounding remixes.
