As Fashionable as Hollywood Stars
Another oddly named bar has rolled into town but this venue is true to its name selling, you guessed it, jeans. Not your run-of-the-mill off-the-rack blues though; this Taiwanese store specializes in high-end denim for your derriere, offering Western brands like Seven, True Religion and Frankie Bs to Shanghai’s fashionable lower-halves. They only carry women’s 24-28 and men's 29-34, but you can custom order from Taiwan.

Hunting for quality jeans in China brings me severe torment. But thankfully, the Jeans Bar is place to escape the overabundance of denim that is often hideously embellished with glitter, graffiti, distressing, embroidery, ripping, fraying and other nasty Tara Reidesque trimmings. My major criticism is that while they carry a lot of classic denim labels (for both guys and girls), the overall variety of styles and sizes is not overly extensive. But it's definitely worth a look if you're on the smaller side.

Hollywood is far way from our life, while what the stars are wearing are right in town. Founded in 2003 in Taiwan, The Jeans Bar opened its first store in China mainland last summer, bring the most popular brands in the States together to Shanghai. The store is not very big, but in total 12 brands could be found there, such as 7 for all mankind, TRUE RELIGION, Frankie B and 575 DENIM, with another brand Rock & Republic coming soon. Designed by top designers and made of high-quality denim, these jeans are directly transported from the States and Mexico, where the same collections are being sold in various boutiques. The sizes of ladies' jeans are 24-28, and men's are 29-34. You could also make special orders if you need other sizes. And if you're lucky, you'll get the jeans you like delivered from Taiwan in a few days. The store owners will get a supply twice each season, making sure there're plenty products for you to choose from. Spending RMB1,200-3,300 on a pair of jeans might be expensive, but if you want to wear the same as David Beckham, Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, The Jeans Bar won't disappoint you.
