This vintage-themed boutique carries an extensive collection of old-school glasses, sourced by the owner Seven Shi from factories around China. Produced from 1960 to 1990, all of the styles are long out of production. Besides glasses, the store also stocks travel bags, watches and sheet-iron toys. The store doesn’t provide prescription lenses.

This shop houses the best vintage glasses selection in town
Vintage style is huge in Shanghai and the scene is getting even bigger with the recent opening of several retro-themed boutiques. Fashionistas have started to forage for abandoned pieces from their parents’ wardrobes and wear them to the coolest parties.
Seven Shi is one of those vintage hounds. His boutique, Shanghai Code, is a wonderland for those who dig nostalgia and nerdy glasses. Shi says all his glasses were made between 1960 and 1990 in factories around China for the Chinese working classes. All of the styles are long out of production, which means Shi’s shop is probably the only place to get your hands on a pair–short of snatching them from the nose of a middle-aged local. The store can’t make prescription lenses, but any optician can put them in for a couple of hundred kuai. While Shi’s main interest is glasses, he also scouts around for vintage travel bags, watches and sheet-iron toys.
