The Shanghai Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Academy (SHBJJ) is the premier academy for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Shanghai China, and also the largest with just over 400 square meters. All classes are instructed and supervised by Brazilian Black Belt Tony Eduardo or by one of our other certified instructors under Tony’s curriculum.

Brazilian jiu jitsu is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him or her to submit. Due to the fact that control is generally easier on the ground than in a standing position, much of the technique of Brazilian jiu jitsu is centered round the skill of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling for dominant control positions from where the opponent can be rendered harmless.

At the Shanghai Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy we offer a relaxed, friendly martial arts training environment. Students with no martial arts experience will find the training fun and intuitive. Those with previous martial arts training will see how to integrate their existing skills into the ground game.

At SHBJJ Academy we also offer Muay Thai, Self-Defence, No Gi BJJ and mixed martial arts (MMA) classes. As well as US Army Combative classes, kettle bell training and boot camp classes.
