To answer the question "What do I think about this city?", I say: I love Shanghai, because I live in Beijing. I equate myself to Beijing's jilted lover, bitching and whining about what she isn't doing well, only to sing her praises the second she takes me mountain biking, grinds Chinese anthem rock at a show or has simply a sunny day.

For a good burger try the Alll Star Cafe. It is on Lady Street next to the Lai Tai Flower Market. Best I've had in China!!!

Hi, I am going to beijing sept 5-14, and would love a recommendation on places to hear avant garde electronic or minimal techno, not house. Any suggestions? anything with video projections or comtemporary art?

I see a lot of interesting posts.

lmao

Hey man great job and all that, glad to have this site in my fav list. However as the meddling, demanding whiner I am, I have a couple of suggestions on how to increase the usefulness of the site for the most important person around, me :)

First off, I would like a quick and easy "ask the community" kinda feature, so a guy like me could quickly find out where the heck I can buy the new edition of The Economist. (if anyone knows pls send me the answer in a comment :D ) This would vastly increase the site usefulness.

Second, and this is a bit more ambitious, I think it would be cool with a BeiDa or foreign student section, with tips from and to students especially, like about stores and bars and stuff close to BeiDa. That would be an obvious advertisement place for local bizz, boosting cityweekend advertisement revenue (if there is any such LOL) and ofcourse it could easily be followed up with a few flyers or emails in the right places around semester start to make the section a vibrant and busy place on the web for us newly arrived playerz.

Cheerio from the laffin' Dane :)
