South Beauty > Super Brand Mall Description

Super sleek decor, impeccable service (occasionally accompanied by a performance, if you're lucky) and exquisite cuisine will make it hard to leave. Top honors go to the spicy spare ribs and tongue-numbing tofu. The dan dan mian is so tasty that, though bursting at the seams, you'll still need to make room.

This is the 3x I have been to South Beauty (the other times were in Beijing and the Shanghai Citic Plaza Branch) and was the most disappointing. Service was atrocious--waiters/waitresses seemed to intentionally ignore us at times and required regularly reminders; we had to get up and help ourselves to water, chopsticks, and spoons; and there were huge gaps in the serving of food (some dishes were served 1 hour after other dishes were served and only after many reminders). The atmosphere in the large interior room is okay. Food was so-so overall. Too much oil or liquid. Would not go back to this branch. Hope this experience is not representative of other branches...

Try the pork ribs, best in Shanghai.

My review for this well decorated and almost roboticly run restaurant is similar to the other reviews on this page. I absolutly adore the view and we didn't get charged ¥150 to sit at the window like another user mentioned. The food, if not quite authentic sichuan cuisine is a mellow intro for those for don't want the mouth numbing, eye watering, " I need another can of crysanthium tea, quick" food that is sichuan. We had some very tender and sweet pork in a dark sauce with knotted tofu which was called grandma's meat pot, this was my favourite dish. Followed closely behind by a dish with fryed sweet green chillis and flavoursome diced pork, a fastastic dish. We all really enjoyed the green beans that had been deep fryed but still retained the desired crunch and bright green colour. Another highlight was the chicken peices on a massive bed of dried chillis with crunchy peanuts.
I guess all of the mentioned food is pretty standard chinease but being nicely presented along with the fantastic view I recommend freinds (as long as they can ignore the grumpy servers) to try this place.
Price: the 8 of us payed ¥180 each for 11 dishes and a couple of local beers each.

I really don't know waht all the fuss is about with this place. The service is crappy, the Laya Plaza venue is stark and cold, and the experience leaves nothing to be desired.

I don't think this location is the best choice for enjoying the South Beauty food.

I ordered a lot but not satisfied with most of them. Maybe I am too picky on Sichuan food. "Cuz in most Chinese streets and lanes, there are many Sichuan cuisine restaruant, and the food should be spicy but memorable, however, the South Beauty is not that good as I expected.

Speaking to the decoration, after more and more well-decorated restaruant opens up in the city, there is no more shinning breathtaking decoration to attract me in this place.

Anyway, I am looking forward to having fun in Lan Club if possible.

I'm convinced that South Beauty is one of the best restaurants in China. The locations in Beijing are spectacular. And the dishes South Beauty puts together are nothing less than flavorful.

I was a little turned off by the YY150 just to sit by the windows in the Super Brand Mall. Nonetheless, it's truly one of the better dining experiences in the country.

While most of the dishes can get spicy, if you don't think you can stand the heat, try the deep-friend green beans, shrimp covered in mayonnaise or barbecue spare ribs if you're looking for "cooler" alternatives.

**spicy it is not** i would hesitate to call the food at south beauty authentic 'sichuan cuisine.' while it receives points for decor and ambiance, the food lacks any substantial heat. the use of sugar was gratuitous and widespread, giving the dishes a sweeter than expected flavor. the restaruant seems to be geared towards the local palate in this respect. if you are after something truly mouth-numbing head elsewhere, however if all you want is a nice environment and some middle of the road chinese food then this is your spot.
